Eyelid Surgery Overview
The eyes are the “windows of the soul” and the first thing many of us notice. We’ve been “lost in” another’s eyes. However if those windows are tired, droopy, or puffy, they are probably not reflecting that vibrant you. Despite that old dishwashing liquid commercial, what may betray your age first is your eyes. Do you see the eyes of an older, “tired-er” person looking back at you in the mirror every morning?. Did your coworker ask you if you had a late night or if you were not feeling well today? Fortunately, eyelid lifts or blepharoplasty surgery can give you dramatically younger eyes.
One reason that the skin around our eyes may sag is simply due to age. As skin loses its tone so do the eyebrows. As the outer parts of the eyebrows start tp sag, the skin of the upper eyelid is affected–is there skin there that was not there just a little while back? Trimming this “extra” skin can wake up your appearance.
The other reason for “tired eyes” is because of eyelid fat. This fat is held back by a thin wall of fibrous tissue called the orbital septum, which can start to droop over time and starting to bulge, giving you those tired upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid lifts trim this extra fat and tighten the wall, bringing back a more rested appearance.
